Define your weight management programme

Define your weight management programme

When its time to get into the details, think about:

  • What are your key resources?
  • What are your key processes?
  • What other treatments already available in your practice (such as body sculpting treatments) could you integrate into the programme?
  • Will you charge for the first consultation?
  • How frequently will you see your patients?
  • How will you package the programme? E.g. a fixed monthly price or a price per pen, would you consider a loyalty discount?
  • Will the staff be able to handle the follow ups and touch points?
  • Have you considered including dietary advice, exercise coaching and psychological support?

Taking the time to think about all of these factors will help you support your patients holistically and develop a well-rounded service. Integrating weight management into your clinic may need an investment of time and resources at the start, but it can also compliment the other services you provide, demonstrate your commitment to caring for your patients, and help you give them the support they need to manage their weight and improve their health.

An example weight management program may include:

  • Initial assessment
  • Discussion of possible treatment options and initiation of pharmacological treatments
  • Regular patient touchpoints (e.g. face-to-face, online or hybrid) to assess progress
  • Provision of patient support resources
  • Additional services (e.g. health coach, diet and exercise)

Connect with local GPs, relevant healthcare providers, gyms and weight loss groups to let them know that you are offering a weight management programme and to discuss ways that you may be able to work together.

The field of medical aesthetics is becoming increasingly holistic and focused on offering care that addresses a patient’s overall wellbeing, not only their physical appearance.
